Micayla Pierce - Piano

“My teaching style is about creating a fun and safe space so we can learn to enjoy challenges. I think everyone can learn to play piano; I strive to find what inspires each student and help them to find how rewarding playing piano can be. We will learn to read music, play duets, train our ears, and build confidence.”

Micayla started out learning to play the guitar. At age 11, she realised she liked the piano better and made the switch! She never looked back and is still grateful for all the pleasure it has given her over the years.

Micayla has her Grade 10 Piano RCM certification, which she received with first class honours. Prior to moving back to Victoria in 2024, Micayla taught formal piano and violin to over 40 students in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland. Micayla offers a well-rounded approach that values music reading, ear training, piano proficiency and an openness to various styles and genres.

Micayla is passionate about life-long learning, always seeking out ways to challenge herself. She is currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at UVic.
